Saturday 13th October was a busy day at the Church. With the flower festival held in the main hall and the Excavation taking place on the Cairn, to find one of the boundary walls of the historical Bentley Hall, it was also the 5th of our monthly recital series.
Richard warmly welcomed Tina Titley & Alan Myatt to the stage for their vocal recital. They performed a varied programme of solo’s and duets, starting the recital with a medley of Folk songs which included ‘Early One Morning’, The Skye Boat Song’ and ‘O Danny Boy’. The programme continued with:-
Ave Verum Corpus,
Ave Maria,
Pie Jesu,
The Nightmare Song (from Iolanthe)
The Sun, Whose rays are all Ablaze and Titwillow (from the Mikado)
Whistle Down the Wind
Let There be peace on Earth.
The standard of the performance was exceptional leaving the audience clapping with appreciation. We had over 44 people attending the performance who thoroughly enjoyed themselves, showing this in donations of over £102.00 given at the end of the recital. All funds will be going to the ‘Organ Restoration Fund.
I would like to thank Tina & Alan for doing this recital and supporting the Organ Restoration fund.
The next recital will take place on 10th November 2007 at 2.00pm.
