Newly Revamped Kitchen
|
Following on from a successful bid for funding from the Big Lottery, Emmanuel Church, Bentley had intended to revamp their kitchen facilities as part of the planned overhaul of their church centre. Unfortunately, at the start of November new terms & conditions attached to the grant by the Big Lottery meant that it was impossible for Emmanuel to accept the grant and it was thought that the whole project would have to be re-thought. However, come to the rescue Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust with a grant of £15,000.00 specifically for the refurbishment of the kitchen facilities.
These facilities are an integral part of the existing usage of the church centre and the overall plan to redevelop the centre for the further benefit of the community of Bentley. Church Links helped in locating the builders, carpenters, kitchen installers and in putting the original bid for funds to Ibstock Cory. With planning, the actual work took two weeks from start to finish, which means the kitchen is now available for Christmas.
We will also be working with Emmanuel in the New Year to address the other issues which have been identified, to bring the church facilities up to the modern standards required to further expand the variety of community work that they
can offer.
Below are pictures of the kitchen in itsoriginal form and as it is following the work, plus one of four members of Emmanuel’s Hall Management Team who have been involved in the redevelopment planning, the Rev. Sharron Hough, Mr Frank Hesson, Mr Tony Carr (Church Warden) and Mrs Margaret Carr (Church Warden).
