Organ & Trumpet Recital in Celebration of St Georges Day
This event was well organised, and the two brothers, Richard and Matthew, complemented each other very well with their entertaining selection of English Music. The programme included a set of Variations on God Save the King (Queen!), Variations on I Vow to thee my Country, and other works by Vaughan-Williams, Handel and Purcell.
We had a larger than usual number of people in the church, and they were royally entertained. Many flags were being waved throughout the Pomp and Circumstance March No.4 by Elgar, and the encore, an improvisation on Jerusalem, culminating with the hymn being sang by all who were present. Well done to you both, and we look forward to the next recital on the 9th May, given by Organist John Pryer, who is organist of both Alexandra Palace in London, and the Birmingham Oratory.
